The 14-Day AI Job Search Sprint (Checklist)

The 14-Day AI Job Search Sprint (Checklist)

This sprint turns the whole series into a simple plan you can follow.

You’ll build a repeatable system:

  • clear target roles
  • a strong master resume + wins bank
  • 5-minute tailoring
  • smarter job searching + quick screening
  • interview role-play practice
  • a small skill plan (optional, but powerful)
You don’t need perfect days. You need consistent days. If you miss a day, just pick up where you left off.

How to use this sprint

Pick your pace:

  • Minimum day (15 minutes): do the “minimum” item
  • Standard day (30–45 minutes): do everything listed
  • Power day (60–90 minutes): do the “extra” item too

What you need

  • Your resume or LinkedIn (even if messy)
  • A notes doc for your “wins bank”
  • A place to save versions (even a folder with clear names)
  • I have one notes doc for my wins bank
  • I have a folder naming system (Company-Role-Date)
  • I have my master resume ready (or I’ll build it on Days 3–5)

Week 1: Build your foundation + apply with confidence

Day 1: Reality filter + target roles (15–30 min)

Do:

  • Write your reality filter (location/pay/schedule/dealbreakers)
  • Create your 3-role shortlist: Safe / Stretch / Switch
  • Choose one primary role for the next 2 weeks

Minimum day: write the reality filter + pick Role A (Safe).

Day 2: Keyword bank (20–40 min)

Do:

  • Paste 3–5 job posts for your primary role
  • Pull 10–15 repeated keywords/tools
  • Pull 6–8 repeated responsibilities (job-post phrasing)

Extra: create a short list of title variations (6–10) for searching.

Day 3: Wins bank (30–45 min)

Do:

  • Write 12–15 raw wins (small wins count)
  • Add real details (frequency, scope, tools, outcomes)

Minimum day: write 8 wins, no polishing.

Day 4: Turn wins into strong bullets (30–60 min)

Do:

  • Rewrite 10–12 bullets using: action + scope + result
  • Run a truth check (no invented tools/metrics)

Extra: group your wins bank into categories: Customer / Process / Time / Team / Projects / Quality.

Day 5: Build your master resume (45–90 min)

Do:

  • Assemble a complete master resume:
    • Summary (2–3 lines)
    • Skills/tools (true keywords)
    • Experience (best bullets)
    • Projects (optional)
    • Education/certs

Minimum day: create a solid summary + skills + top 8 bullets.

Day 6: Create your tailoring pack (20–40 min)

Do:

  • Put these in one place for quick copy/paste:
    • master resume
    • wins bank
    • keyword bank

Extra: make a “proof map” template: Must-have → My proof.

Day 7: Tailor + apply (45–90 min)

Do:

  • Find 2–3 good jobs
  • Screen with AI triage
  • Tailor your resume (5-minute workflow)
  • Apply to 1–2 roles

Minimum day: screen 3 jobs and apply to 1.

Week 2: Increase volume (without chaos) + prepare for interviews

Day 8: Smarter search setup (30–45 min)

Do:

  • Build 3 saved searches:
    • title + skill
    • title + industry
    • skill-first (career switcher-friendly)
  • Add “NOT” filters for avoid keywords

Extra: set a reminder for two weekly search sprints.

Day 9: Apply sprint (45–90 min)

Do:

  • Screen 5–8 jobs
  • Tailor and apply to 2–4 roles

Minimum day: apply to 1 role with a tailored resume.

Day 10: Cover letter (optional) + application polish (30–60 min)

Do:

  • Create one reusable cover letter template (3-paragraph structure)
  • For one job that requests it, generate a job-specific version

Minimum day: write a short, reusable paragraph 2 “proof story” you can reuse.

Day 11: Build your story bank for interviews (30–60 min)

Do:

  • Write 6 stories using the 60-second format:
    • problem solved, improvement, project, tough moment, teamwork, learning moment

Extra: practice “tell me about yourself” (45–90 seconds).

Day 12: AI role-play (30–45 min)

Do:

  • Run a Level 1 (friendly) role-play interview
  • Tighten one weak answer with the “shorten to 60 seconds” prompt

Minimum day: practice 2 questions: Tell me about yourself + challenge story.

Day 13: Tough follow-ups + questions to ask (30–60 min)

Do:

  • Run a Level 3 (tough) follow-up drill:
    • “Be specific”
    • “What was your role?”
    • “What would you do differently?”
  • Write 6 questions you can ask interviewers (role clarity, success metrics, team workflow)

Minimum day: write 3 questions to ask in an interview.

Day 14: Skill plan + next 2 weeks (30–60 min)

Do:

  • Choose one skill that repeats across job posts (the “repeat rule”)
  • Create a 2-week 30-min/day plan using AI as a tutor
  • Pick one “tiny proof piece” you can complete

Minimum day: pick the skill + schedule 3 practice sessions for next week.
